Ingredients

Chocolate Layer

  • 200 g milk chocolate
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp chocolate-hazelnut spread

Vanilla Cream

  • 250 g mascarpone
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Chocolate Swirl

  • 100 g melted milk chocolate
  • 50 g melted white chocolate

Toppings

  • Chocolate truffles
  • Crushed chocolate biscuits
  • Chocolate shavings

Instructions

  • Melt the milk chocolate with the heavy cream in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of gently simmering water, stirring until smooth. Remove from the heat and mix in the chocolate-hazelnut spread. Let it cool slightly while you prepare the vanilla cream.
  • Whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar until fluffy and soft peaks form. Do not overwhip, or the cream will become grainy.
  • Add the mascarpone and vanilla extract, then mix gently until smooth and creamy. Keep the mixture light by folding rather than stirring vigorously.
  • Fold the vanilla cream into the cooled chocolate mixture in two additions. Use a spatula and stop as soon as no large streaks of color remain. The base should look creamy and evenly blended.
  • Transfer the mixture to a serving tin or a shallow dish and smooth the surface with the back of a spoon.
  • Drizzle the melted milk chocolate and melted white chocolate over the top in thin, random lines or dots. Work quickly so the chocolate does not set before you create the swirls.
  • Use a skewer or toothpick to drag through the chocolate in gentle curves, creating feathered swirls. Do not overwork the pattern, or the colors will blur together.
  • Add the chocolate truffles and crushed chocolate biscuits on top while the swirl is still slightly soft so they stick lightly.
  • Refrigerate the dessert for at least 4 hours until set. Overnight chilling gives a cleaner slice and a firmer texture.
  • Scoop and serve chilled, with the chocolate and vanilla swirls clearly visible. Use a warm spoon for neat scoops.

Notes

A practical tip is to melt both chocolates just before you need them. If the melted chocolate thickens too quickly, remelt it gently over warm water. For a smoother swirl, keep the base level before you add the drizzle.
