Instructions

Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Prepare the chocolate cake according to the package directions. Let it cool completely before cutting it into bite-sized cubes.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes. Refrigerate for 5 minutes until thickened.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing until light and creamy.
  • Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until fully combined and fluffy.
  • Begin assembling the trifle in a large glass bowl. Start by spreading a layer of chocolate pudding at the bottom.
  • Add a layer of chocolate cake cubes over the pudding.
  • Spoon on a generous layer of the cream mixture.
  • Sprinkle crushed Oreo cookies on top of the cream layer.
  • Repeat the layers until the bowl is full, finishing with a final cream layer.
  • For decoration, pipe whipped cream swirls over the top, drizzle with warm hot fudge sauce, and arrange whole Oreo cookies and cookie crumbs.
  • Chill the trifle for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.

Notes

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Using warm cake—it will make the layers soggy.
- Overmixing the cream cheese filling, which can make it dense.
- Not letting the pudding set before layering.
- Skipping the chilling time—this dessert needs time to firm up.
